Hello there! Welcome to my brand new blog! Wow, where do I start? I’ve been thinking up website ideas FOREVER, but with lots of complications with an actual website I decided to post pone it and design my own blog. If I’d had it my way this blog would’ve been up in June. But conflicts with a web designer lasted through July until my parents and I put an end to it. Then I was too focused looking through other stuff for a website. Until I finally told myself to post pone that and design this blog. It’s hereeeeeee!!
Gosh, I have so much to say and write on here. I may be new *and young* but I am not clueless as to blogging. People make all these rules that newbie bloggers should know which I personally think is so stupid. How can there be rules to something as simple as writing your thoughts down? But let’s not get into a debate about that.
Welcome! Welcome! I’m so excited about this blog! I’m not one of those people who likes to brag about their life or consistently write about it. If you do, that’s fine, awesome. I would rather use this blog for other topics, which we’ll get into in a little bit. First things first, I want to tell you how I decided on my blog title. It may sound a little strange, but come on. š
That being said, that is my goal. To inspire people. With faith. Jesus is the only way out of this world. I’m not perfect, and I’m not trying to act that way. I’m on a mission doing this:
“Your life as a Christian should make non believers question their disbelief in God.” -Unknown
Okay so if you’ve seen my about page you probably know that I’m a web designer. Not a professional one. I don’t have a business. In fact, even if I wanted one I don’t think I could until I’m 18. But who said I can’t design my own blog? The only unfortunate thing is that when you’re a web designer you feel like everything needs to be perfect, and you over think everything. I know I do. To be honest, when I first started designing this blog it looked nothing like this. I planned on just having a simple header and simple layout with of course: a touch of pink. That is, until a super cute blog design that I’d looked at awhile ago came to mind. I loved the layout, there really wasn’t a header, the header was part of the sidebar, and it left your posts right there and bold. I decided to try that. I mean what’s the worst that could happen? I hate it? Well then I look for other designs.
The first thing I looked at was color. I had a super cute shade of pink saved that I knew for sure I wanted to use. My 2nd main color was going to be a dark and rich purple. But then somehow that got switched to black which I thought went better with the pink, so I just used the purple as an alternate color.
Once I had the colors picked out, I needed 2 fonts: 1 script font (a cute and curly one appropriate for headers and titles) and then 1 print font (for the text and all other stuff). Raleway was my absolute favorite print font and then recently I found a super cute script font called “Carolyna Black” which I decided to go with.
Now that I had those 2 things, I could begin designing. I’ve never been a big fan of background images, probably because I can never find any that I like. But I also like the white space because it really makes the actual design stick out then. That’s just me. So I skipped background images and made my header. I used both of my fonts in it, and then a sparkly overlay to compliment the title. š
The rest just fell into place, and I am sooo happy with how it turned out! Good Design = Motivation to Blog.
Now enough boring you with design talk.
This week I will be blogging posts mostly about getting to know me, or about the future content of this blog. I want to use it for 3 things, mainly: 1) to blog about events going on with my life and share my experiences with you, 2) I want to update you all with my writing, and 3) of course to share my faith, inspiration, and beliefs.
I hope you’ll find inspiration out of my blog. š If you ever want to chat, don’t hesitate to contact me! You can fill out my form on my contact page. Thank you!!
