I am so excited for this post!!! It’s been in my idea queue for awhile and I’ve been waiting to finally get to it. I know I’ve mentioned the group, known simply as Scripture Lullabies, on my blog before. They make exactly what they’re named for—beautiful, melodic songs with lyrics that are Bible verses. They say they can be played for babies and anxiety, and they’re just amazing songs all the way around. I have every single Scripture Lullabies album saved to my library, I listen to them as I sleep, and I just love all of their music.
My mom is the one who found these and introduced them to me. I remember back in the day, when she and Hunter would sleep in her room downstairs and I would lay on a blowup mattress next to them, and these songs would always be playing. That was when I realized how soothing and comforting they were, and they helped my anxiety even then tremendously.
Today, though, I’m going to share my favorites. I insist that you listen to every single lullaby on all three volumes of Hidden in My Heart, but if you’re looking for some good ones to kick off with, here are the ones that have meant the most to me.
1.
“Be Still and Know”
The very first track on the first album, it’s every bit the melting comfort to introduce the rest of the lullabies, based on one of the most comforting passages in the Bible, in my opinion. The melodies are beautiful and relaxing, and the verses could not be more calming.
2.
“The Peace of God”
Following #1, we have this infamous passage on not worrying about anything and receiving His peace (Philippians 4:6-7). It’s a great follow-up to being still and also helps bring clarity and comfort to an anxious mind. Sometimes when I’m really troubled by my thoughts, I will sing these lyrics in my mind to try and calm my soul.
3.
“Love the Lord”
This is one of my top three because of how beautiful, melodious, and comforting it is. There’s obviously a theme here, but this one, to me, is one of the best. And listening to those verses about loving Him, that really is the meaning of life, so this is being reminded of what it’s all about.
4.
“I Will Never Leave You”
I think this one is my favorite of all time. I’ve listened to this when I’ve been deeply sad and alone, like over Thanksgiving break my sophomore year during the decline of my aunt Connie, and it just has a way of steadying me no matter what is going on. It’s our ultimate hope—that He never leaves us.
5.
“I Can Do All Things”
This one is especially tranquil, too, and so calmly empowering. I just visualize laying in a bed and letting these words trickle down over you, pacifying you, ’cause you never outgrow that; we all need these reminders, and this is how we draw close to Him—being in His Word, which these lullabies sing directly to you.
6.
“Strength of My Heart”
I’m doing a whole post on this one and why it especially resonates with me in the future, but this is a song and Scripture I cling to. The purpose of life cannot be overstated, and this song has the gentle desperation felt in these verses.
7.
“Wonderfully Made”
Another absolutely beautiful, incredibly wistful and enveloping melody along to the wonderful verses in Psalms about people being wonderfully made. This is an amazing lullaby especially for those times of needing confidence, love, and self-worth in Him. It is like His voice talking to you.
8.
“Come to Me”
This has been another one of my rising favorites. It’s the beautiful sermon we all need of coming to Jesus for rest, set against the most lulling, peaceful tunes. This song is akin to an embrace, and I love sitting and listening to this one again and again.
9.
“Precious Life III”
Their “Precious Life” tracks on each album are just instrumentals, but they’re the loveliest melodies ever. This one is my all-time favorite; it encompasses the beauty of life as a whole.
10.
“Life in Me”
This one is the verse where Jesus says true life is found in Him, and these tunes just perfectly encompass the beauty, wonderful mystery, and depth in these verses. It makes the words come to such life.
11.
“Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled”
I love this one in particular for day-to-day anxieties and worry. It cuts your thoughts off at the helm and takes them down the reassuring, tranquil path of His peace.
12.
“He Is Risen”
A wonderful, invigorating lullaby that includes the victorious, comforting, and powerful melodies that this news encompasses. This is what gives us hope, what makes peace and life in Him all possible.
These lullabies are so much better than any words I could use to praise them, so don’t delay in listening to them. And somehow I just found out that they have a FOURTH album?! I need to get on that, ASAP. I hope you fall in love with these; I don’t know how anyone couldn’t. These should be famous; they sound better than any song and include the pulse of life, salvation, peace, rest, beauty, and God right in them. Let me know which ones you love most.
