I’ve always been attracted to the glitz and glam in life, along with pink, of course. Since sparkles are a key element in my personal style (as they are in my blog name, haha), I have made it my mission to incorporate as many sparkly fashion items into my wardrobe as possible. Unfortunately, this isn’t always easy to do, since sparkles and sequins are seen as more of a trendy look, especially around the holidays.
Of course, sparkles, for me, are never just limited to the holidays. I like to look sparkly all year round, while also looking chic and girly. When I’m looking for sparkly items, I don’t want to look obnoxious. I like to make a meaningful statement and I’m not afraid of being bold, but I don’t want to dress for attention, either, or make statements just to do so. Sparkles are part of who I am, so when I’m incorporating them in my daily life through what I wear, I want the items I buy to go well with an everyday outfit (not just an outfit for the holidays) while also showcasing the glimmer I want to be known for.
I think I’ve done a good job with this, and I’ve received so many compliments on my sparkly clothes and accessories, so I figured, why not write about those things? While I don’t consider myself a fashion blogger, I am a lifestyle blogger, and for a blog that has sparkles in the name and for a girl who loves shopping as much as I do…I’m shocked I haven’t come up with this post idea sooner. So whether you are looking to add more glitz and glam to your outfits, want to see some of my favorite items, or just learn more about incorporating elements you love into your style, I hope this post can inspire you!
For the sake of length and relevance, I’m only going to share items I currently have and not stuff I had in the post but have outgrown or anything like that. I’ll share plenty of sparkly photos and a quick blurb about each item and why I love it and how I wear it! If you have any questions about the items, I will do my best to answer them or provide links if they are still available, as some of these are newer than others.
Sparkly Booties from Old Navy
Okay, the star of this whole post is easily these booties. I have never gotten so many compliments on something I’ve worn as I have with these. People make comments about them literally everywhere I go wearing them; I have people I don’t even know approach me to compliment them. This actually greatly surprised me because when I bought them over a year ago, I found them alongside these plain pink suede Old Navy booties and told my mom I had to have them, and she thought they were obnoxious…which, I kind of did, too, but I loved the glitter so much, so I bought them anyway. Best. Decision. Ever. These boots were so cheap but do not feel cheaply made at all. I’ve had them for over a year now, and I wear them constantly in the winter and walk everywhere in them (there was a learning curve with the heel but now I’m a pro walking in these haha), and they still are sturdy boots. They are the perfect finishing touch to any outfit and can spice anything up, like the outfit pictured above. They are truly one of my favorite things I’ve ever bought.
Sparkly Sweaters and Boots
I have found so many shimmering sweaters for winter, and the sparkly sweaters I’ve accumulated are some of my favorites. I couldn’t even tell you where the sweater in the above picture is from because I got it from a consignment shop, and they’re an easy way to find styles that aren’t commonly made for glorious prices. This sweater is in perfect condition and has also been worn by me for YEARS, but it’s one of my favorites and pairs so well with anything, and it’s so classic that I’ll keep it until I can’t. Also, I don’t know how easily you can see the bling on my Uggs in the photo, but those white Uggs are one of my favorite shoes. They are so classic yet have the perfect amount of bling: the bow is lined with sequins, and the logo on the back is outlined with sequins. Uggs are pricey but a winter staple as far as I’m concerned; you definitely get what you pay for with them. I went through three boots before getting them for my 13th birthday, and all three of them broke or faded, but my Uggs, which I also have worn constantly for years, are still in peak condition and, despite being a creamy ivory color, look pretty much spotless (I’ve tried my hardest!!).
Gold Michael Kors Crossbody Bag
I debated whether I should throw on my Michael Kors purse because it’s not necessarily sparkly, but it has such a chic, shiny gold color to it, and then when I saw I had a photo of the dust bag it came with that has the logo in glitter, I thought I needed to. This is definitely one of my prized possessions; it was on MAJOR sale, like an over $200 bag on sale for less than $100, and I received it for Christmas last year. I definitely am able to wear this with any look because the pretty gold color is neutral enough to accentuate any outfit, and it brings that element of glam I love to any outfit, no matter how casual or formal it is. It’s also roomy and practical enough for any occasion I need a purse for.
Grey Sequin and Lace Sweater
This sweater is another of my all-time favorites. It is just so elegant and sparkly, what more could I ask for? I wear this with my glittery booties I showed up above a lot and have received numerous compliments on this sweater also. I got it a couple years ago at my grandparents’ ShopKo when their town still had one, and it’s had a good life since then! The only thing I will say is the quality isn’t quite as good as some of my others, but it’s so pretty I don’t care. And it has LACE at the bottom!!! If this sweater were pink I really would faint; it would be absolutely perfect. It still is, though, except unfortunately the lace has gotten a hole in it, but it’s not that noticeable, so I still wear it anyway.
Sequin Cocktail Mini Dress
This is my favorite dress I’ve ever owned in my life, despite owning not that many dresses at all. Seriously, though, I’m convinced it will be my favorite for years to come. I’ve worn it a grand total of zero times since I bought it a year ago, but when I saw it go on major sale, I had to jump on it. It’s so fancy, I just haven’t had the proper event to wear it to. I mean, it’s ideal for the club, but I’ve got quite the years ahead of me before we can go there, but it’s formal enough to be worn to various events. If I get invited back to another academic banquet, I would wear this. I’m going to wear it constantly one day. I wish I had the sort of life where I could just wear this on my way to the grocery store, but I live in small town Iowa, and you just don’t do that here. 🙂 This dress is from Revolve and the designer is NBD, and I would definitely buy from them again. This dress just feels luxurious and made me feel amazing the grand one time I wore it; I’m SO eager to find something to wear it to again because it definitely deserves to shine. 🙂
Badgley Mischka Sequin Studded Stiletto Heels
Ever since buying mini dresses and skirts, I had been dying for the stiletto heels to really make the outfits complete. That’s bringing out the attractive side of the glamour definition, haha. So when I had extra money and saw these beauties go on sale on Nordstrom, I pounced on them. They are a light pinky-nude color with glitter covering one of the straps on the front of the heel, but the real exciting part is how the stiletto heel is bedazzled in sequins…ahhh. They are so eye-catching and flattering. Again, I tried them on once, and I LOVED how they made my legs look and gave added lift to other areas haha (what are heels for? :D). Again, if it were practical where I live, I would wear heels with everything. Whenever I go through the learning curve of walking in these and live in a city, I will wear heels with just about anything. These can effortlessly give any casual or formal outfit that extra touch of bling and edginess I love. Plus, Badgley Mischka is one of the best designers to look at for all things sequins!!
Sparkly Tees
Just as I wear sparkly shirts in the winter, I do in the summer, also. In both of the above pictures, the two tops are casual t-shirts but also can be dressed up easily with their classic neutral colors and subtle sparkly stripes. I love shirts like that; they are the perfect mix of trendy and classy. The top grey shirt is from Express, and the bottom nude shirt is from Loft, but again, I snagged both of these from consignment stores, and both are great quality.
Sparkly Victoria’s Secret Sports Bra
Yes, sparkles have even found their way to my workouts and undergarments, sorry not sorry. I don’t like to look boring in anything, and I have a major obsession with Victoria’s Secret, so I actually have all sorts of sparkly things from that store, which could be a whole post in and of itself, but I probably won’t because I don’t think I’m ready to take my blog that direction… ANYWAY, I got this sports bra at the semi-annual sale when we went to the Victoria’s Secret in Calgary on vacation last summer! This is one of my favorite sports bras; it is just so cute and very well made. I adore all the “normal” bras I’ve gotten from there and despise wearing sports bras, but when they look like this, it makes it a lot more enjoyable.
Black Pearl Studded Sam Edelman “Activewear” Sweater
Okay, a couple things: one, excuse how filthy my mirror is—I probably should have said that sooner in the post; two, this sweater has pearl studs, which aren’t exactly sparkles, but they have the same glamorous effect; and three, the sweater is said to be activewear, but let’s be real, I would never wear this while working out; it’s just too pretty. It does have an open back, though, so it would work for that. I find it so soft and high quality, though, that I can just slip on a cami underneath it, and it’s a perfect chic look on chilly days. It’s from Sam Edelman, one of my favorite designers.
Black Sequin Heels
These heels (or sandals, whichever you prefer to think of them as—they’re kind of a crossover between the two, which is nice because you can basically wear them for any occasion) are some of my favorites. They are just gorgeous with their sequin straps and also add that extra sass I love to an outfit. I love how versatile these are, easily able to be dressed up or down, sweet or edgy. I have a pair of these in a stunning rose gold color, too. I got them both off of Amazon for really cheap! I wish I was an affiliate of Amazon because if I was, I would be linking the crap out of these, but I need to look into that yet (on my never-ending to-do list haha). I was actually skeptical about buying these. My mom was the one who showed them to me, and I thought they were beautiful but hesitated about how good the quality would be. Well, so far they’ve been outstanding. I haven’t had them for a real long time yet—I got them at the end of last summer—but I have worn them to school multiple times and have done a lot of walking in them, and they have held up great. They’re pretty comfortable, too. I just feel like a princess wearing these, honestly, and they’re definitely a wardrobe staple for me. If they bite the dust, I’d buy another pair because the price for them is reasonable enough to replace them.
Sequin Shirt from PINK
Victoria’s Secret PINK is a great place to look for outfits with all things bling and is therefore one of my favorite stores ever—I have many tops from them like this one, and while this top is definitely more on the casual side, it is just so comfy and fun. It makes for a great outfit for school or just for hanging out and is an easy way to truly shine. Who says casual has to be boring?!
Casual White and Sparkly Grey Striped Hollister Top
This shirt is another of my favorites and great for casual wear, but it’s still so cute. I love tops like these, where they incorporate that element of shine without being obnoxious or ridiculous with it. I got this one just recently at my grandparents’ town’s consignment shop, and I haven’t had a ton of chances to wear it since it’s gotten pretty cold here, but I can’t wait to more. It’s nice and fitted, which I just love when clothes are tight like that. It’s all part of the glamorous style. 🙂
Gold Sparkly Mini Bailey Bow UGGs
OKAY these boots on the other hand just may surpass my sparkly booties. I don’t know if I’ll get as many compliments on these as I will the other ones, but I’ve only had one chance to wear them since receiving them just this Christmas. But, wow, these are the most gorgeous things I’ve ever seen in my life. They are everything I could want in a shoe: gold, sparkly, and THEY HAVE BOWS. Again, they spice things up, they are neutral yet make a statement, and they are Uggs, so they have loads of comfort. THANK GOD FOR POSHMARK MY FRIENDS… That is how I afford most of my high-end items because if you look hard enough, you can find brand new items for half their price, which is what happened with these, and also special thanks to the seller for offering me that generous discount. These were brand new and are perfect quality of course; the glitter doesn’t easily come off (one of my biggest pet peeves when it does, and that doesn’t happen with my Old Navy boots, either). I just can’t wait to wear these more. These boots were basically made for me.
Victoria’s Secret Rhinestone Knit Joggers
Welcome to my latest obsession. I just bought these with a Victoria’s Secret gift card I got for Christmas because I have been wanting a pair of joggers forever but could never find ones that looked like me because evidently I still like to look hot just when I’m laying around my house, but these do the trick perfectly. They have a nice slimming effect (my mom told me this anyway…), and the material is so cozy and luxurious, which IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THESE THINGS WERE NOT CHEAP… They were on sale or else I wouldn’t have bought them, even though I was in love with them the second I laid my eyes on them. Their sale price was like the “normal” price for joggers, though, so they were still expensive…but I don’t regret it at all because I love living in these; I can’t wash them as fast as I want to wear them is the only problem. These were the prettiest, most stylish pair of joggers on their website if you ask me, and that’s saying a lot because I love everything Victoria’s Secret makes. Unfortunately, ALL of their other joggers I was interested in were out of stock in my size except for these, so it ended up not being so unfortunate at all because that’s when I knew these were the one. I love to wear them at home, to the store, and I think they’d be perfect for long car rides, plane rides, or just about anything because you can still look pretty dang good in these without even putting effort into an outfit!
So, which of these is your favorite(s)?! If you have any questions, let me know, and I’ll do my best to answer them! Also, if you have any favorite sparkly items, please do share them with me, as this is one list for me that never needs to end!
